A pistol and a quantity of ammunition were discovered by officers of the Valencia Police Station, during anti-crime exercises in the area on Tuesday.
According to a report from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), the exercises were conducted between 8:45 am and 2:20 pm on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, under the supervision of Sgt. Chris Edwards and included officers of the Eastern Division Task Force, Valencia CID and Crime Patrol Unit.
Acting on information received, police officers first proceeded approximately 50 meters off the Cumaca Road, Valencia, where they carried out a search of a bushy area and found a black coloured plastic bag hidden in the roots of a mango tree, containing 16 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition.
The officers then went to Jamoon Drive, Valencia, where they conducted a search under a pile of debris and found a pistol of unknown make and model.
No arrests were made in connection with the finds.
