PM orders probe into procurement of Tobago ferries
Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has ordered an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the procurement of the Cabo Star and the Ocean Flower 2 ferries, as well as the entering into the charter party agreement with Bridgemans Services Group for these vessels.
Businessman Christian Mouttet has been appointed the sole investigator into the matter, and is expected to deliver a report within 30 days.
He will be provided with support from the Ministry of the Attorney General and Legal Affairs.
Today’s announcement by the Prime Minister follows numerous calls for an investigation into the procurement of the vessels, after the termination of the contract for the Ocean Flower 2 passenger ferry.
Calls have also continued to mount for the firings of the Works and Transport Minister and the Board of the Port Authority over the fiasco.
The Port Authority has been working to secure a new passenger ferry to service the inter-island sea bridge since the MV Superfast Galicia was pulled from local service earlier this year.
