PNM opens nominations for 2020 general election
The People’s National Movement (PNM) has opened up nominations for the upcoming general election.
At a media briefing immediately following a General Council meeting on Saturday, Chairman Colm Imbert raised several party matters which were discussed during the meeting.
Imbert indicated that political leader Dr Keith Rowley issued a call for nominations for the 2020 General Election for all constituencies, effective immediately.
However, the Chairman advised that while nominations would be opened from this week, the screening exercise will not begin this week.
Imbert revealed that the screening exercise would commence after Carnival 2020.
The party Chairman said while the PNM is confident of victory at the polls, it is getting into election mode early.
“We are taking the general election very, very seriously. We are leaving nothing to chance.”
No date has as yet been announced for the general election.
