People's National Movement (PNM) candidate for Moruga/Tableland, Winston "Gypsy" Peters
Former United National Congress (UNC) MP Winston "Gypsy" Peters has been selected by the People's National Movement (PNM) to contest the Moruga/Tableland seat in the upcoming general election.
He replaces incumbent MP Dr Lovell Francis.
In a Facebook post, Peters said he was humbled and honoured by the Executive Committee's decision to select him to contest the Moruga/Tableland seat.
"I wish to express my sincerest gratitude to the People's National Movement (PNM), and it's Political Leader, Prime Minister the honourable, Dr Keith Rowley. I am looking forward to using my years of experience as a Member of Parliament (MP) and Government Minister to address the needs of the people of Moruga/Tableland, understanding the challenges within the Constituency."
He also expressed gratitude to Francis for his service and dedication to the people of Moruga/Tableland.
Peters served as the Minister of the Arts and Culture under the previous People's Partnership administration.
