Point Fortin, environs left in the dark after power outages

Emergency repairs are being carried out by the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) following power outages across the Point Fortin Borough. Work is expected to be completed by 8 pm.

The outage has left customers in Point Fortin, Cap-de-Ville, Cedros, Chatham, Buenos Ayres and surrounding areas without electricity.

Schools from Guapo to Icacos were dismissed early as a result of the disruption.

The Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government indicated that the issue originated at the T&TEC substation along the South Central Road.

T&TEC in a subsequent statement said a fault occurred on Monday on the 12kV board at the substation which distributes electricity to different feeders in the area.

T&TEC assured that it is working to restore the supply in the shortest possible time.
