Police: 49 guns seized in one week in Central Division
With the seizure of five more firearms last week, the Central Division has removed a total of 49 illegal weapons from the streets of this country.
This was confirmed by the head of the Division Snr Sup Imraj Balram, who praised the officers of this district for their continued hard work and dedication to duty.
Over a seven-day period, the officers under the supervision of Balram with assistance from several officials including ASP Smith, Sgt Mohammed, and Sgt Dolloway, among several others, conducted routine exercises in the districts.
This led to the seizure of five weapons in districts such as Enterprise and Cunupia, as well as the seizure of an assortment of ammunition, including assault-rifle grade 5.56mm ammunition.
It was just four days ago that officers found and discovered 110 rounds of ammunition which all bore ‘TTR’ markings. No one was arrested in connection with the find.
As a result, in addition to praising the men and women of his district for their hard work, Balram also wanted to call on the public to continue to partner with the Police Service, and that if anyone had information of illegal activities, it should be shared with law enforcement – either via the nearest police station or anonymously through 555 or 800-TIPS.
