Police and army clothing seized in Cunupia

A woman and an elderly man have been arrested after clothing belonging to the police and army were seized by Central Division officers from a house at Sampson Street South, Cunupia.

The items, along with an AK-47 assault rifle and 28 rounds of ammunition, were seized by officers under ASP (Ag.) Richard Smith, during an anti-crime exercise in the area on Tuesday.

The exercise, which was conducted between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm, on Tuesday 3rd October 2017, also included Sgt. Andy Mohammed and officers of the Chaguanas CID.

Based on information, officers executed a search warrant at the house, located on Sampson Street South, where they discovered the assault rifle, a magazine containing 28 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and the pieces of clothing.

A 24-year-old woman and a 68-year-old man, who were found in the house at the time of the search, were arrested in connection with the finds.
