Police arrest kidnapping and murder suspect in Couva

A murder suspect was held on Saturday morning in Couva.

The suspect, a 31-year-old man, was intercepted for speeding along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway around 8.30 am by officers of the Highway Patrol Unit.

The officers intercepted the vehicle after a short chase along the north-bound lane of the highway.

He was said to be speeding and driving in a dangerous manner.

Upon being stopped, the officers ran a preliminary background tracing and realised that the 31-year-old man was wanted in the Western Division on inquiries into murders and kidnappings.

As a result, the man was immediately detained.

He was handed over to officials from the Homicide Bureau.
