Police arrest second suspect following armed robbery

A 22-year-old man is the second suspect to be arrested following a report of an armed robbery on Tuesday afternoon.

A 19-year-old man is already in police custody, having been arrested less than 30 minutes after the incident took place. Police are currently searching for third suspect.

The two were arrested along Allstars Crescent, Malabar.

According to police reports, around 4 pm on Tuesday, a team of officers from the La Horquetta Police Station were conducting exercise in the area when they received information that the driver of a gold Nissan Almera motor vehicle had been robbed of his car at gunpoint. 

The officers received information that the vehicle was seen along Tumpuna Road, Arima, and they made their way to the location.

The car, LoopTT was told, was found abandoned at Allstars Crescent.

The 19-year-old, from Yellow Bird Lane La Horquetta, was held along the roadway, after officers allegedly saw him throw a pistol loaded with 13 rounds of 9mm ammunition, into a yard in the area.

The 22-year-old, from Tumpuna Road, Malabar, was held some hours later during police exercises in the area after the teenager was questioned.
