Police arrest welder in the process of repairing stolen car

Police are currently questioning a welder who was arrested for operating on a stolen vehicle on Tuesday.

According to reports, the vehicle was reported stolen last Sunday.

The 24-year-old owner of the silver Nissan Wingroad reported to police that he left his vehicle, which was experiencing mechanical problems, at the roundabout in the vicinity of the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business, Mount Hope, around 3 am on January 14.

The victim told police he returned around 6 pm on Monday and discovered the vehicle missing.

Around 8:30 am on Tuesday, PCs Larry Mycoo and Richie Walters of the Santa Cruz Police Station spotted the vehicle in an open area along Orange Field Road, Santa Cruz.

A 23-year-old man of Sam Boucaud Road was arrested in connection with the incident, after he was found under the vehicle carrying out mechanical repairs.

 Investigators believe that a wrecking service was used to move the vehicle from Mount Hope to Santa Cruz.
