Police arrest women on Murray Street for loitering
Six women were due to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate on Monday after they were arrested on Friday night along Murray Street, Woodbrook.
The women, all said to be Trinidad and Tobago citizens between the ages of 25 and 35, were arrested by a team of officers from the Port of Spain CID led by Snr Sup Ajith Persad.
The officers, including ASP Parriman, Insp Powder, Sgt Raymond, among several others, were conducting mobile patrols in the area when they observed the women at the corners interacting with persons who they flagged down.
The women were cautioned about loitering in the area, and the officers left the scene.
Upon returning a short while later, all six women were still on location and were once again observed interacting with motorists and pedestrians.
As a result, the six women were all arrested and charged with loitering.
They were due to appear before the courts on Monday.
Last weekend, a similar exercise was conducted in the same area by CID officers which led to the arrest of seven women.
More on this as it becomes available.
