Police: Bones found near hospital not human

Despite social media reports that the skeletal remains of a human being had been found near the Couva Children’s Hospital on Sunday afternoon, police believe that the bones were that of a dog.

Police received a report at about 2:00 pm Sunday that a skeleton had been found near the hospital which is located just off the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway in Couva.

When officers arrived, they observed bones in the area.

The scene was cordoned off and a district medical officer (DMO) was contacted.

However, when the DMO examined the remains, he told investigators that the bones were not human, but rather, appeared to be that of a small animal – most likely a dog.
