Police carry out exercises in Cocorite after shootings

Following an increase in violence in the Cocorite district, a massive police exercise was launched on Thursday night.

The exercise was conducted between 9:00 pm Thursday and 3:00 am Friday morning.

Leading the charge was Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith who was on the scene for a period of time.

The exercise was supervised by Snr Sup Pragg, and included Sup Thompson, and Inspector Petti, among several others.

In total, ten persons were detained.

Among them was a 22-year-old man who was held with a Berretta 9mm semi-automatic pistol which was loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition.

Another man was held on an outstanding warrant, while the others were held for a variety of offences including marijuana possession.
