Police catch three with loaded firearm

The keen observations of Northern Division police resulted in the arrests of three men at the Eddie Hart Savannah, Tacarigua, after they were found to be in possession of a loaded firearm.

The men, who are all in their early 20s and from the Arouca district, are expected to appear before an Arima Magistrate on Monday.

PC Charles is the complainant (charging officer) in this matter.

Loop News was told that on Friday night PC Charles and PC Kerr of the Arouca CID were on patrol near the savannah when they observed three occupants in a red Mazda 3 registration PBZ 6453.

On seeing the police vehicle, the men all exited the car and attempted to make a hasty retreat.

This drew the attention of the officers who immediately engaged the three men.

The officers called for backup and were supported by officers of the Emergency Response Patrol Unit.

The three men were searched, as well as the vehicle.

In the backseat of the car, the officers found and seized a .22mm pistol.

As a result the three suspects were taken to the Arouca police station where they were questioned and charged.

More on this as it becomes available .
