Police charged for pulling gun on woman, counsellor

A police officer, who allegedly pointed his firearm at a woman and a social welfare counsellor has been arrested and charged.

The charges stem from an incident on August 26 when the officer and a female friend reportedly went for counselling.

During the session, it was alleged that the officer pulled out his licensed firearm and pointed it at her and the counsellor.

He then left the scene without any further incident.

A report was made and an investigation launched, which resulted in the officer being held and charged.

He appeared on Friday before the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court and was granted bail at $50,000.

The charge was laid indictably and the police officer was not called upon to enter a plea.

The matter was adjourned to November 15.
