Police couple dead after shooting at Champs Fleur home
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a suspected murder-suicide incident which has resulted in the death of two police officers.
According to a statement issued Sunday, police were told that around 10:30 am on Sunday, November 11, 2018, officers received reports of the sounds of explosions coming from an apartment along Mt. D’or Road, Champ Fleurs.
Upon arrival, it was discovered that the apartment in question was the residence of No. 19734 WPC Raquel Kipps and a male relative, No. 8368 SRP Constable Michael Youksee.
After carrying out a search of the premises, both officers were discovered lying on a bedroom floor with what appeared to be gunshot wounds to their heads.
WPC Kipps was determined to be lifeless, however PC Youksee was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, where he succumbed to his injuries at 1:36 pm on Sunday.
One firearm was recovered at the scene by Crime Scene Investigators
WPC Kipps was attached to the Northern Division Senior Superintendent’s office while SRP Constable Youksee was attached to the Tunapuna Police Station.
Investigations will be led by Insp. Gyan, of the St. Joseph Police Station, with assistance from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region 2.
