Police destroy $200K worth of marijuana in eradication exercise

A total of 200 marijuana trees and 500 seedlings were discovered and destroyed by officers of the Eastern Division during a marijuana eradication exercise in the Sangre Grande district on Tuesday.

The exercise, supervised by Cpl Denton Cortez of the Valencia Police Post, took place between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm.

Officers proceeded to Turure Road, Guaico, Sangre Grande, where they discovered the fields in a forested area approximately a 1/4 mile off the roadway.

The plants have an estimated street value of TT$200,000.

No arrest was made in connection with the find.

The exercise included officers attached to the Eastern Division Task Force and Organised Crime and Intelligence Unit.
