Police destroy marijuana field in Petit Valley

Thousands of dollars’ worth of marijuana trees were destroyed on Wednesday morning by officers of the Western Division Task Force.

According to reports, the exercise took place between 5 am and 8 am today.

A team of officers, led by Cpl Nurse with assistance from PC Richards and PC Harris, among several others, received key intelligence which led them to a hilly area off Simeon Road, Petit Valley.

The officers came across a wooden home, the back of which, hidden among a garden area where there were other crops, was a large patch of marijuana trees.

The trees were destroyed, however, at the time of the exercise no one was at the structure, so no one was arrested.

Despite this, officers are expected to pursue several leads with the aim of detaining suspects.

More on this as it becomes available.
