Police detain 12 in Trou Macaque
Twelve people were arrested during a police exercise in Trou Macaque and Morvant Tuesday morning.
The suspects, between the ages of 18 and 52, were all detained on outstanding warrants or inquiries into firearm related activities, as police continue their investigations into the deaths of 15-year-old Joshua Andrews and 33-year-old Dave Fernandez on Monday afternoon.
However, nothing illegal was said to have been seized in this exercise.
The efforts of the law enforcement officers, which reportedly comprised an estimated 150 men and women from the Police Service and the Defence Force, did not go unnoticed.
Residents were said to have welcomed the officers' work.
The 12 detained persons were questioned on their knowledge of illegal activities in the district, and at least two have been released as of 6 am today.
The others are to be questioned further, before a decision would be made on charges, if any, will be laid against them.
