Police find body of 87-year-old missing man stuffed in barrel

The body of an 87-year-old man was found stuffed in a barrel along a walkway on the ground floor of his two storey home.

According to reports, Irvin Ming was reported missing by his caretaker on Wednesday.

Police then made their way to Calcutta Road, Freeport around 1pm on Friday, where they made the discovery.

The search for Ming was led by DCP Crime Harold Philip and involved the engagement of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit under Senior Superintendent Arjith Persad.

Officers carried out a search of the victim’s home with the aid of tracker dogs who picked up the scent of the deceased.

A male and female relative are said to be assisting police with their investigations.
