Police find gun, ammo in La Romaine anti-crime exercises

Two firearms and a quantity of ammunition were discovered by officers of the San Fernando Criminal Investigations Department during separate anti-crime exercises in the La Romaine district on the same day.

During the first exercise which took place around 9:30 am on Thursday, a party of officers led by Cpl Bisnath, proceeded to a bushy area off Lance Road, La Romaine, near the La Fortune Hindu Temple. 

A search was carried out and officers found one Ruger double barrel shotgun hidden in the bushes.

The second exercise was conducted around 4:00 pm and resulted in officers discovering one Tanfoglio pistol loaded with a magazine containing 15 rounds 9mm ammunition, hidden in some debris on an empty lot of land along Church Street Extension, La Romaine.

Investigations are ongoing.
