Police find gun and grenade-like object in Chaguanas
An object resembling a hand grenade, a pistol and a quantity of ammunition, were discovered by officers of the Central Division during an anti-crime exercise in the Chaguanas district on Tuesday.
During the exercise conducted between 12 pm and 6 pm, officers proceeded to an abandoned wooden structure at the corner of Mano Street and Postman Drive, where they carried out the search.
They found a pistol loaded with a magazine containing two rounds of .38 mm ammunition.
Officers then proceeded to Isles Trace, Enterprise, where they searched a bushy area approximately 100 meters off the roadway. There, they discovered the suspicious object which was subsequently secured by the Explosive Detection and Disposal Unit.
No arrest was made in connection with the finds.
The anti-crime exercise was spearheaded by Acting Senior Superintendent Inraj Balram, coordinated by Acting ASP Richard Smith and included officers of the Central Special Crime Unit, the Organised Crime and Intelligence Unit and the Canine Branch.
