Police hold suspects shortly after Carnival Tuesday robbery

Four men are in police custody after they robbed and assaulted a 30-year-old man on Carnival Tuesday.

According to police reports, the victim, who resides in St James, was walking along Hyderabad Street, St James when on reaching the vicinity of Nizam Street, he was confronted by three men - one of whom was armed with a firearm.

The men then demanded money from the victim and dealt him several blows to his body.

They then relieved the 30-year-old of TT$3,000 cash, US$100 cash, and two cellular phones.

The suspects then escaped in a Silver Nissan Tiida motor vehicle.

A report was made to the police and an all-points bulletin with descriptions of the suspects was sent out.

A team of officers from the Emergency Response Unit, including Sgt Jerry and Cpl Jaikaran, responded and they intercepted the vehicle in the Port of Spain district.

The stolen items were recovered.
