Police investigating abduction of supermarket co-owner

Eastern Division police are searching for three men who kidnapped 67-year-old Merry Ali this morning.

Ali is the co-owner of Coss Cutters Supermarket located at George & Mary Street in Sangre Grande.

According to police reports, around 7.50 am this morning, the victimwas walking through the car park of the supermarket in the company of two security guards, when a  grey Mitsubishi Ceda vehicle pulled up.

Two men exited the vehicle with what appeared to be weapons.

They then grabbed the 67-year-old woman and forced her into the vehicle.

The security guards, police were told, were threatened and ran off.

The vehicle then drove away.

Officers of the Eastern Division, under the supervision of Snr Sup Aguilal, have been conducting searches since the incident was reported for the 67-year-old.

However, up to 1pm she had yet to be located.

The search has even expanded into the Northern Division with units under the supervision of Snr Sup Ramkhelawan providing assistance.
