Cops search for couple after robbery at Penal guesthouse

In a scenario reminiscent of notorious American outlaw couple Bonnie and Clyde, Penal police officers are investigating a report of a robbery at the Double Palm guest house in which a man and woman were involved. 

According to police reports, around 2.15 am on Saturday morning, a man and a woman arrived at the guesthouse, located along Clarke Road, Penal, in a white Nissan B15 motor vehicle, and went to the room access area.

They filled out the required information, paid $150, and went to one of the rooms.

However around 3:00 am, the woman came to ask the receptionist for towels. At the same time, her male companion pulled out a firearm and announced a hold-up.

The man then stole $21,050 from the receptionist area, as well as the camera surveillance system.

The two then entered the Nissan and escaped.

The police were notified and investigations are ongoing.

23-year-old woman robbed at home in Arima

In a separate incident, police are investigating a report of a home invasion in Arima.

The victim, a 23-year-old woman, was said to be in the living room of her Hoyte Avenue, Arima, home, when at about 10.30pm two men entered.

One man was armed with a cutlass, the other armed with a firearm.

The first assailant placed the cutlass to the woman’s neck and announced a hold-up.

The two men then proceeded to rob the woman of her cash, valuables, and cellular phones, before making good her escape.

The woman made a report to police and investigations have been launched.
