Police investigating Claxton Bay fire

Police are trying to determine what caused a fire in Claxton Bay which damaged a house.

According to police reports, around 7.00 pm the victim, a 58-year-old man, secured his home at Soledad Road West, and retired to bed.

Around 10.20 pm he was awakened by an explosion, and upon checking he observed smoke emanating through a wooden flooring.

He raised an alarm and managed to escape without being harmed.

He then observed a Mazda 626 which he had secured under his house on fire, which was not working. The vehicle caused the flooring to his house to catch ablaze.

Cpl Dhunkarie and party visited the scene.

A team of officers from the Savonetta Fire Station led by A/FSSO Marlene Ford also visited the scene and contained the damages.
