Police investigating Maloney killing

A  33-year-old Maloney man was shot dead near his home on Saturday night.

The deceased has been identified as Collin 'Simba' Williams, according to police reports.

Williams was said to be seated in the gallery of his home at Building 17, Maloney Gardens, around 10.30 pm when a vehicle pulled up alongside him.

Two men exited the vehicle with firearms, and without warning, they shot at Williams.

They then returned to the vehicle and sped off.

Residents of the area, on hearing the explosions, rushed to Williams’ aid.

The police and paramedics were notified, however, the 33-year-old man succumbed to his injuries.

Williams, police said, was not known to officers of the area, and as a result, there was no motive for his killing.

An autopsy was scheduled to take place Monday at the Forensic Science Center in St James.

Investigations are continuing.
