Police: Laventille teen's death may be reprisal killing
An 18-year-old is dead following a shooting incident in Trou Macaque, Laventille.
The deceased has been identified as Kevon Depeiza of Apartment Building One, Trou Macaque.
His killing is believed to be linked to the death of Darren “Cowman” King, who was shot dead on Monday afternoon.
According to police reports, at about 3:00 pm on Monday, the teenager was outside of his home with a man known to him.
Police were told that they were overheard having a discussion about King’s death.
While speaking, they were approached by an unknown assailant who was armed with a firearm.
The assailant shot Depeiza several times before fleeing the scene on foot.
The wounded teenager was rushed to the Port of Spain General Hospital, however, he succumbed to his injuries some hours later.
A team of officers, including ASP Parriman, Inspector Richards, Sgt Reyes, and Cpl Rampersad, among several others, visited the scene.
Investigations are ongoing.
