Police ‘looking into’ Ian Alleyne after COVID-19 announcement
Police have confirmed that they are looking into the manner in which television personality Ian Alleyne announced to the public that he had tested positive for COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) to determine if any laws have been broken.
This, LoopTT was told, was because it had been submitted that via his actions Alleyne may have caused panic in the public domain.
The television personality is currently being kept in isolation, along with over other persons who have tested positive for the coronavirus.
On Tuesday night, social media was in shock when Alleyne posted three videos where he claimed that after returning from a two-day trip to Miami on March 15, he began experiencing flu-like symptoms.
Alleyne admitted to not self-quarantining upon his return to T&T.
Alleyne also said that he admitted himself to the Mt Hope Hospital on Monday night and was tested for COVID-19. Upon his ‘positive diagnosis’, he also claimed to have spoken to Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh, who he says instructed him on his next steps.
Alleyne has since apologized on social media for how he announced his case, and for any panic he may have caused in the public domain.
