Police: Mayaro father may have been killed over land dispute
Investigators are still trying to determine what would have led to the murder of father of two, Anthony Sonny, in Mayaro on Sunday night.
And while there is no official motive for the killing, it is believed that it could be linked to a dispute over land that the deceased had with someone recently.
The killing, police said, is further troubling as it appeared that Sonny was executed by his attackers.
Anyone with information is therefore being asked to contact the police, either through the nearest police station or anonymously through 555 or 800-TIPS.
Sonny, 28, was said to be on the property of an unfinished home which he was in the process of constructing for his family when he was approached by two masked men.
Sonny was asked who the owner of the land was, and where was “red-man”.
However, while answering one of the men opened fire on the 28-year-old, hitting Sonny several times about the upper body and head.
Sonny fell to the floor and the assailant walked over his body and shot him once again.
This matter is being investigated by a team of officers from the Eastern Division and the Homicide Bureau including ASP Williams, Inspector Lutchman, Sgt Harper and Cpl Ramsahai.
More on this as it becomes available.
