Police: A 'miracle' no one killed in 4-car smash-up

Three people, including a woman, were hospitalised following a motor vehicular accident along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway on Monday.

The accident happened around 7 pm yesterday on the east bound lane of the highway in the vicinity of the Piarco traffic lights, police said.

It involved four vehicles: a Hyundai Elantra, a Subaru Forrester, a Toyota Corolla, and a Mitsubishi pickup.

The accident, police said, was so severe that responding fire officers had to use the “jaws of life” tool to extricate the driver of the Forrester.

From initial information, the accident took place when one of the vehicles broke the light and collided with two other cars.

One of the vehicles then hit the fourth car involved in this accident.

Police said that it was a “miracle” no one was killed.
