Police nab robber in San Fernando

The swift work of officers from the San Fernando City police resulted in the arrest of a bandit mere moments after he robbed a 65-year-old woman. 

The incident took place at about 3.20 pm along Upper High Street, San Fernando, near Linda’s Bakery. 

The victim told police she was walking along the roadway when she was attacked by a man. The man grabbed her purse, which contained an estimated $177 in cash, and ran off.  

At the same time, a team of officers from the City Police, including PC Rampaul, WPC Ramcharan, WPC Gomez, and WPC Joseph, were driving past. They were made aware of the situation and the officers gave chase. 

The suspect was held a short distance away and all the items which were reported stolen were recovered. 

He is expected to face charges of larceny of person.
