Police officer to be laid to rest on Friday
The funeral service for Corporal Ian Hamilton will take place on Friday.
The service, LoopTT was told, will take place at the St Mary’s Anglican Church in Tacarigua.
Hamilton was found dead in Dormitory of the Police Band Room at Riverside Compound around 7 am on Sunday by a colleague.
Corporal Hamilton had 15 years of service in the Police Band and mere hours before his body was found, he played alongside his bandmates at a charity event.
Officers of the Port of Spain CID and Besson Street Police Station are investigating.
Meanwhile, President of the Police Service Social and Welfare Association (PSSWA) is reminding officers to disregard any thoughts of judgements or perceived stigmatisation from their peers, and seek out help for anything that ails them.
The association is working to ensure that an employee assistance programme for the Police Service would soon be in operation. In the interim, peer counsellors who have been trained to work in divisions and branches of the service are available to assist with mental help issues.
