Police officer gunned down in Arima
Police are searching for suspects after a police officer was brutally gunned down in Carapo, Arima on Sunday.
In a statement issued Sunday, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said officers are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the murder of PC 17939 Kryston Ramirez, who was gunned down in Carapo, Arima on December 16, 2018.
Police said around 2:30 pm Officer Ramirez, who was attached to the Guard and Emergency Branch of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, was at a sports bar when two masked men fatally shot him.
The assailants then ran off.
The TTPS extended deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of PC Ramirez.
Homicide Region 2 is presently conducting enquiries.
Minister of National Security, Stuart Young, extended sincere condolences to the family of PS Ramirez and vowed that his Ministry would provide full support in helping the TTPS in their investigation.
"As Minister of National Security I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the family of PC Kryston Ramirez who was shot and killed this afternoon. May God bless you and provide you with strength and comfort at this time.
I also extend my sincere condolences to the men and women of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) on the loss of Officer Ramirez.
As this heinous crime is being investigated, I assure the TTPS that you have the fullest support of the Ministry of National Security.
We will not be deterred in carrying out our lawful duties and responsibilities as we tackle the criminal elements in our society," he said.
