Police raid guest houses in POS and Central, 50 persons arrested

At least 50 foreign nationals were held on Sunday morning during a police exercise at two "popular" guest houses in Port of Spain and Central Trinidad.

The group was held between 12 am and 6 am during the joint exercise by officers of the Port of Spain CID and Central Division.

The lawmen visited guest houses along Lime Head Road, Chaguanas and Dundonald Street, Port of Spain.

The detained, of whom were mostly women, were handed over to immigration officials.

After they are questioned, they are expected to be charged and brought before the courts this week for several offences.

The exercise was led by acting Snr Sup Ajith Persad and ASP Parriman.
