Vehicle stolen at gunpoint recovered by police

The quick work of officers from the North Eastern Division Task Force resulted in the recovery of a vehicle within an hour after it was allegedly stolen at gunpoint.

A 30-year-old man from El Socorro was held and is expected to be charged and brought before a Port of Spain Magistrate.

The suspect was held on Thursday afternoon in the North Eastern Division, with the vehicle – a Mazda 323.

Officers, led by Sgt Guelmo, and including Cpl Lavia, PC Hide, and PC Lezama, among others, learned of the robbery through an all points bulletin.

After conducting inquiries, the officers received reliable intelligence which led them to seize the car, and the suspect, shortly after.

However, police said no firearm was found in the vehicle.

Despite this, the suspect is expected to be questioned in relation to this incident, as well as other reports of larcenies and robberies in the Port of Spain and North Eastern Districts.
