Police recover stolen vehicle, firearm following chase

North Eastern Division Task Force (NEDTF) officers are pleading with anyone with information into the seizure of a firearm, a quantity of ammunition and a stolen vehicle in the San Juan district to contact them immediately.

This follows an intelligence-led exercise by officers of the NEDTF in the Parry Gully Trace, Hunte Road, San Juan area on Friday which resulted in the seizure of a chrome and black .38 revolver containing five live rounds of .38 ammunition.

One .38 spent shell was also found and seized.

Acting on information, officers of the NEDTF responded to a report of a crowd of men armed with guns in the Hunte Road area on Friday evening.

Upon seeing the officers, the group dispersed, fleeing into various directions, causing officers to give chase.

The men however made good their escape.
As officers blanketed the area and environs in search of the suspects, they managed to recover a stolen Nissan Tiida vehicle in the Happy Hill, Laventille Road, San Juan area.

The vehicle was reported stolen mere hours before from the Chaguanas Policing District.

The exercise was spearheaded by Snr. Supt. Phillip and Supt. Maynard-Wilson, coordinated by Supt (Ag) Alexander andsupervised Sgt (Ag) Martin, Cpl Daniel and Cpl (Ag) Duncan.
