Police rescue elderly man minutes after abduction in Port of Spain

Police moved swiftly to rescue a 71-year-old businessman who was abducted outside his workplace in Port of Spain on Thursday night.

With the assistance of members of the public, the rescue took minutes.

According to reports, at around 9 pm, the owner of a jewellery store on Charlotte Street, Port of Spain, had just exited his business and was walking towards his vehicle when he was approached by two men.

Loop TT was informed that one of the men was armed with a firearm.

The men reportedly ordered the elderly man into the back seat of the car and drove off.

Persons who witnessed the incident notified the police who responded.

The car was intercepted a short distance away, near the Jean Pierre Complex.

The victim was recovered unharmed while two individuals were arrested at the scene.
