Police return stolen vehicle to owner, call for info on car thieves

Police are calling on anyone with information on persons involved in car thefts in the West End area to report them to the authorities immediately.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) made the call while informing that the West End police last night returned a vehicle to its owner after it was stolen on September 28.

The TTPS said the vehicle was taken from its parking spot near the owner's home in Diego Martin.

Police were told that the owner awoke to hear the vehicle being started and reversed down the street. However, the owner's companion subsequently stopped the vehicle using anti-theft technology.

They reported to police that they saw two men dressed in long, dark clothing exiting the vehicle and running away. Police responded and recovered the vehicle.

It was taken for forensic processing and returned to its owner last night. WPC Gittens continues investigations into the incident.

The TTPS said anyone who may have witnessed the crime or have information on car thieves in the area are asked to call the police via its hotlines at 555 or 999 or report via the TTPS’ App or website.
