Police search for driver in hit and run

Police are still searching for the driver of a vehicle which struck a 20-year-old woman in Penal on Thursday.

According to police reports, around 7pm on Thursday, Seema Ramkissoon was crossing the San Francique Road in Penal, near Better Bargain Supermarket, when she was struck by a car.

Police were told that the vehicle appeared to be a burgundy Nissan Almera.

Part of the licensed plate flew off during the impact.

Ramkissoon was thrown several feet into the air, and landed violently a short distance away.

The police and emergency health services were notified and the wounded woman was rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital where she was treated.

Thankfully her injuries were not life threatening, and she only suffered a broken arm and a fractured shoulder.

Anyone with information which could lead to the detention of the driver is asked to contact officers at the Penal Police Station.
