Police searching for motive in Rousillac barman's murder
Police are searching for a motive on why anyone would want a 56-year-old proprietor of a bar in Rousillac dead.
Ralph Rajkumar, of the Southern Main Road, Rousillac, was fatally shot while at his business place, Unity Bar, along the Southern Main Road.
According to police reports, at about 9.30 pm on Thursday, a man entered the building and asked for “half of puncheon” rum.
While Rajkumar was securing the drink, the man pulled out a firearm and shot Rajkumar multiple times.
The assailant then fled the scene.
The police and emergency health services were notified, and the injured man was rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital.
Unfortunately, Rajkumar succumbed to his injuries at 10.55 pm that night.
Persons who came to the scene shortly after the shooting recorded the aftermath and uploaded the clips to social media.
In these clips, Rajkumar’s relatives can be heard screaming at the injured man telling him to get up.
PC Ramsoobag is continuing inquiries.
A team of officers from the Southern Division and the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, led by ASP Raphal, ASP Robert, and Inspector Jones, visited the scene.
