Police searching for suspect after woman robbed in Woodbrook
Police are searching for two suspects following the robbery of a 26-year-old woman in Woodbrook on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident was said to have taken place at about 3:30 pm that day along Gallus Street, Woodbrook.
The victim was said to be in the company of her two-year-old son when she was attacked by a man of African descent.
The assailant, clad in a white jersey and a black 3/4 pants, was said to have “rushed” the victim and attempted to steal her cellular phone.
The victim resisted and was assaulted as a result.
During the altercation, which was captured on nearby CCTV footage, a second man walked up to the two and pulled the assailant away from the woman.
The assailant then “rushed in” once again and snatched a gold chain from the neck of the 26-year-old woman.
He then made good his escape.
The victim made a report to the Woodbrook Police Station and sought medical treatment.
Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the suspect.
LoopTT was told that despite an image being circulated on social media of a man being arrested, no one has been held.
The public was also once again cautioned about the sharing of misinformation asked to only share verified information from reputable sources, including the TTPS, and recognized media companies.
More on this as it becomes available.
