Police seize 12 guns in one week
The Northern Division continues to make strides in its fight against crime as 12 firearms were seized in the district over a seven-day period.
The weapons, including several handguns and a shotgun, were seized in various locations in Arima, Arouca, and Tunapuna, between February 13 and February 19.
A total of nine persons were arrested and charged in connection with these finds.
The 12 weapons seized, as well as a quantity of assorted ammunition, are all expected to undergo ballistic testing to determine if they can be linked to crimes reported in the district.
The exercises were all supervised by DCP McDonald Jacob and Snr Sup Daniel.
They are part of the division’s continuing “zero tolerance” approach to crime in its jurisdiction, and similar exercises are expected to be performed over the coming days.
