Police seize marijuana valued at $1M

Over $1 million in marijuana was seized yesterday afternoon in Sangre Grande. 

Officers of the Eastern Division’s Special Division Unit seized 55 kilogrammes of marijuana at a home on McShine Street. 

According to police reports, at about 12:40pm officers went to the home of a suspect to execute a search warrant for arms and ammunition. When officers arrived at the scene, they heard strange noises and entered. 

They observed several white crocus bags containing 72 bricks of compressed marijuana. Checks were made for the suspect, but he could not be located. 

The operation, which was supervised by Snr Sup Aguilal and Cpl Ramnarine, also included PCs Cielto, Singh and Samuel.

Police are continuing their probe.
