Police seize ganja, bulletproof vest, ski masks in Maraval

Police found and seized a quantity of marijuana, a bulletproof vest and two ski masks in a river in Maraval on Tuesday.

During the hours of 1pm and 6 pm, an anti-crime exercise was conducted in the Western Division where a total of 6.7 kgs of marijuana was found.

The exercise included a warrant executed on a premises in Boissiere Village, Maraval where nothing was found on site.

Further checks however, revealed three kilograms of marijuana, one scale, a bulletproof vest and two ski masks in a river located at the back of the premises.

Based on information received about persons conducting illegal actives at an abandoned house, the team then proceeded to La Horquette Branch Road, Glencoe.

A search at that location resulted in the seizure of 3.7kg of high-grade marijuana, four walkie-talkies two rolls of plastic and a machine used for packaging.

The exercise was spearheaded by Snr. Supt. Thompson, coordinated by ASP Henry and supervised by Cpl Young. It included members of the Western Division Joint Army and Police (J.A.P) Patrol Unit and officers from the Mounted and K9 Branch.

Investigations are continuing.
