Police Sgt to face magistrate for stealing underwear
A police sergeant is expected to appear before a Chaguanas Magistrate on Monday, charged with stealing a pack of panties worth $107 from PriceSmart Chaguanas.
According to reports, the officer went to the establishment last Thursday and was seen by an employee putting a pack of underwear in his pocket.
The Sgt was stopped by security officers as he attempted to leave the store around 2:30 pm. They found the underwear in his possession.
The man reportedly identified himself as a police officer and gave his regimental number and the station he was assigned to. He also said that he was on vacation.
He was charged by officers of the Chaguanas Police Station and allegedly told colleagues he was dared by a female companion to steal the underwear.
Last year, the officer was freed of larceny of a motor vehicle. The case was dismissed due to a lack of witnesses.
