The Tunapuna police station was closed on Tuesday night after an officer at the station tested positive for COVID-19.

It is expected to be reopened by this morning, as sanitisation was done last night by cleaning crews.

However, individuals who have been in close contact with the police officer have been instructed to self-quarantine.

They may also have to present themselves for testing.

Over the last two weeks, at least four police buildings have been closed for sanitization after officers tested positive for the virus.

Three of these stations are in the Port of Spain Division and included the Besson Street police station, the Riverside Plaza, and the Police Administration building.

At least eight other officers have tested positive for COVID-19.
