Police still searching for Mayaro rape suspect
Eastern Division police are searching for a man who allegedly raped a coconut vendor along the Mayaro Beach.
The incident took place near the woman’s vending booth around 10.30 am on Thursday.
The victim told police that she was at the booth when she was approached by the suspect.
There was an argument between the two parties which became physical.
During this fight, the man allegedly overpowered the woman and forced her to the ground where he had sex with her against her will.
The suspect then fled the scene.
The police and paramedics were notified and the woman was rushed to the Mayaro District Health Facility.
WPC Denoon is continuing inquiries.
The search for the suspect, LoopTT was told, is ongoing.
Anyone with information which can lead to the arrest of the individual is asked to contact the Mayaro Police Station or they can give the information anonymously through 555 or 800-TIPS.
