Police strike back with operations across the country

Police have been conducting major operations across all nine divisions of the Police Service, over the past 24 to 48 hours. The exercises have been carried out by various units and resulted in a number of firearm seizures and arrests.

In a statement issued Saturday, the TTPS said during exercises in the Port of Spain Division, seven priority offenders and persons of interest were arrested by police officers in connection with recent shootings and firearm offences. The suspects were taken to various police stations for further enquiries.

Officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force also carried out several searches throughout the Port of Spain Division, where they recovered two firearms and a quantity of ammunition.

Meanwhile in the Southern Division, officers of the Southern Division Task Force and Marabella Criminal Investigations Department, conducted a number of searches, which resulted in three firearms, and quantities of drugs and ammunition being found.

In separate exercises in the North Eastern Division, officers led by Sgt. (Ag.) Applewhite and Cpl. Yarna, completed 147 stop and search forms and issued 46 fixed penalty notices.

Additionally, 25 stop and search forms were filled out in the Northern Division, by officers led by Sgt. (Ag.) Ali. While, E999 and Emergency Response Patrol officers carried out anti-crime exercises in the Tobago Division, where 30 stop and search forms were filled out.

These exercises are ongoing and will continue.
