Citizens are being reminded that under current laws and regulations, public gatherings of more than five persons are not allowed.

This reminder comes after 19 persons were detained last night during a police operation in the Central Division.

The operation took place between 3.45pm and 9pm, under the supervisions of Snr Sup Simon and Sup Ramesar.

ASP Pierre, ASP Gibbs, Insp Alexander, Insp Ragoo, and others, also provided assistance.

The 19, who are between the ages of 24 and 64, were all held in Esperanza Village.

Two other persons were also held, police said.

A 32-year-old ‘priority offender’ who was held with an estimated 500 grammes of marijuana, and another man who was held on inquiries on allegations of malicious wounding.

They are all to be questioned and brought before a Couva Magistrate on Monday.
